In 1866 Carleton WATKINS was already very famous for his photographs of the Yosemite Valley. Indeed, the first photographs, seen by the president LINCOLN (1809-1865) in 1863, led him to draft the bases of the system of the national parks. In this photo, Carleton WATKINS captured the most iconic elements of the Yosemite Valley: Bridalveil Falls, Cathedral Rock, Half Dome, and El Capitan. Over time, American photographers have been immortalizing the majesty of these places.
