Jerusalem, Panorama of the Mount of Olives and Gethsemane

P.Z. (Photochrome Zurich)

Circa 1890

Photochrome, Vintage, 22,5 cm x 16,5 cm, Collection Privée.

This beautiful landscape, east of Jerusalem, shows the trace of the essential monuments of the life and death of Jesus for Christians. For example, according to the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew’s Gospel, Mark’s Gospel, Luke’s Gospel, John’s Gospel), the Gethsemane is a place where Jesus prayed before his arrest. In the center of the picture, we see a bridge, called the Kidron Valley where Jesus often went with his disciples.
