P.Z. (Photochrome Zurich)

Circa 1880

Photochrome, Vintage, 22,5 cm x 16,5 cm, Collection Privée

We find the word "shepherd" everywhere in the Bible. For example, King David was a shepherd in his youth, the Three Wise Men follow the star of the shepherd, according to The Gospel of John, "the true shepherd gives his life for his sheep", etc. The shepherds in this picture, warmly dressed, were Bedouins. Livestock represented the majority of their resources. They were often armed because the areas they crossed were not all safe.
