Stephen WILKES

2017

series: Day to Night, digital photography

The work about Great Migrations is the most recent subject in Stephen WILKES’ work. Bass Rock is an uninhabited island in the north of Scotland. The island has a lighthouse as well as a castle and a ruined chapel. Today, it is a large nesting area for seabirds. During large bird gatherings, the island is covered with a large white coat. It is common to find pictures of this island taken from the sea, but Stephen WILKES is positioned himself on the island. He took pictures among the birds and gives us a different point of view. We are transported from the world of men to the world of birds.
