S69-40308 (July 20, 1969): The deployment of the United States flag on the surface of the moon is filmed during the first Apollo 11 lunar landing mission. Here, astronaut Neil A. Armstrong, commander, stands to the left of the flag staff. Astronaut Edwin E. Aldrin Jr., pilot of the lunar module, is also presented. A camera was fixed on the lunar module and allowed to immortalize this moment.
