AS11-40-5868 (July 20, 1969): Astronaut Edwin ALDRIN, a lunar module pilot, descends the steps of the lunar module (LM) as he prepares to walk on the moon. This photograph was taken by astronaut Neil ARMSTRONG during the Apollo 11 extra-vehicular activity (EVA). While ARMSTRONG and ALDRIN were descending from the LM "Eagle" to explore the Moon, astronaut Michael COLLINS, pilot of the control module, remained in lunar orbit.
