AS11-40-5948 (July 20, 1969): Astronaut Buzz ALDRIN, pilot of the lunar module, is photographed during the Extravehicular Activity Apollo 11 (EVA) on the Moon. He has just rolled out the Early Apollo Science Experiment Package (EASEP). This is a good view of the equipment deployed. In the foreground, the Passive Seismic Experiment Package (PSEP); beyond this is the Laser Telemetry Retroreflector (LR-3); in the center, the flag of the United States; in the left background is the lunar surface television camera in black and white; on the far right is the lunar module (LM). Astronaut Neil ARMSTRONG took this picture. As astronauts ARMSTRONG and ALDRIN descended into the lunar module (LM) "Eagle" to explore the lunar region of the Sea of Tranquility, astronaut Michael COLLINS orbits aboard the Columbia.
