Buzz Aldrin performs for a television audience on the Earth during his way back to the Earth from the Moon on the Apollo 11 spacecraft. The astronaut explains the gyroscope principle under zero-gravity conditions using a can. When this picture was taken, Apollo 11 was approximately 157,000 nautical miles from Earth, traveling at a speed of about 4,300 feet per second.
